incorrectly report physical memory in Windows Server 2008 64 bits standard Edition
Hi All, I upgraded two identical Dell R610 servers (Max ram that can be istalled is 32 GB) OS: Windows server 2008 Standard (Hyper-V Role), from 16 GB of RAM to 24 GB of Ram, the first server showed the 24 GB ram on both the system info and task manager, but the second showed 24 GB in the system information but 16 GB in the task manager. See the information of the second server below System information shows: Memory (RAM): 24 GB Run MsInfo3: OS Name Microsoft® Windows Server® 2008 StandardVersion 6.0.6002 Service Pack 2 Build 6002Other OS Description Not AvailableOS Manufacturer Microsoft CorporationSystem Name SRV2008System Manufacturer Dell Inc.System Model PowerEdge R610System Type x64-based PCProcessor Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU L5520 @ 2.27GHz, 2262 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)Processor Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU L5520 @ 2.27GHz, 2262 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)BIOS Version/Date Dell Inc. 1.0.4, 09/03/2009SMBIOS Version 2.6Windows Directory C:\WindowsSystem Directory C:\Windows\system32Boot Device \Device\HarddiskVolume1Locale United KingdomHardware Abstraction Layer Version = "6.0.6002.18005"User Name SRV2008\AdministratorTime Zone GMT Standard TimeInstalled Physical Memory (RAM) 24.0 GBTotal Physical Memory 16.0 GBAvailable Physical Memory 2.27 GBTotal Virtual Memory 32.1 GBAvailable Virtual Memory 17.7 GBPage File Space 16.3 GBPage File C:\pagefile.sys Task Manger Physical Memory: Total: 16373Cached: 2604Free: 181 Any ideas why Task Manager is not showing the right amount of installed Memory and how it can be resloved ?
