greets. i'm running windows server 2003 and iis 6. i'm doing some asp.net development in visual studio 2010 using iis 6 as the local web server. i use localhost to test. i have my default web site setup so that if a user is not logged in, iis will kick the user to a login page. once logged in they should be good to go. the user in this case, is me accessing the site through localhost. what's recently been happening is that once i successfully get passed the login page, i get a 401.2 Unauthorized: Logon failed due to server configuration error. now i haven't changed any web config stuff or iis settings. locally i'm allowing anonymous access for my IUSR_MACHINENAME account. if i check on to include integrated windows authentication, i get a browser prompt for credentials after i get through the login screen. clearly some server config is messed up. the only think i did recently was install mvc 3 tools through the microsoft web installer 3.0 which also installed iis 7.5 express. i'm thinking something in that installed buggered up my system and i'm running out of ideas to try. i tried uninstalling mvc3 stuff and iis7.5 and reinstalling iis6. anyone have any suggestions? regards,
