if Server 2003 sbs spoil, server 2003 standard can take over, and become main server? Windows Server 2003 SBS is our "Old Machine" Windows Server 2003 Standard R2 will be our "new additional Machine" = 2 different Machine 1. Can I install additional Windows Server 2003 Standard R2 to an existing Windows Server 2003 SBS as backup domain? 2. Due to my Windows Server 2003 SBS is a old machine, keep hang or auto restart or unable to boot up, if existing Windows Server 2003 SBS spoil, can the new Windows Server 2003 Standard R2 take over the domain controller, and become main server? 3. After my old my Windows Server 2003 SBS get repaired, can rejoin Windows Server 2003 Standard R2 Domain? 4. Got any side effect or limitation on SBS and Standard server on working together in 1 domain?

Hello, for SBS a specific forum exist. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/smallbusinessserver/threads Be aware that this result in problems with teh FSMO roles, as they MUST be on the SBS server, no other domain controllers in an SBS domain can use them. 1. no problem to have additional DC/GC inan SBS domain. 2.+3. NO, as the server CANNOT take over the FSMO roles if you need to bring the SBS back. 4. no problem as said before having more then one DC in the domain. But please stick to the SBS experts in the mentioned forum.Best regards Meinolf Weber MVP, MCP, MCTS Microsoft MVP - Directory Services My Blog: http://msmvps.com/blogs/mweber/ Disclaimer: This posting is provided AS IS with no warranties or guarantees and confers no rights.
