hyper V 2012 VM could not initialize machine remoting system. element not found. could not find a usable certificate. element not found

hi,

I faced a similar issue with hyper V 2012.

https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/a5164c6b-3fcd-4e43-94a8-06d54ff02e00/error-element-not-found-0x80070490?forum=windowsserver2008r2virtualization

VM could not initialize machine remoting system. element not found.

could not find a usable certificate. element not found.

1. Host has been rebooted.

2. Hyper Virtual Machine Management service has been restarted

3. The certificate under vmms/personal has been removed and auto regenerated according to https://jamesosw.wordpress.com/2013/06/07/hyper-v-could-not-find-a-usable-certificate/

My VMs are still not able to start. Anyone faced similar problem before and resolve it successfully?

Thanks.

Hi Realsour,

Have you tried the steps in the post

Here is a blog for the certificate issue, check if it helps:

KB 971264 - VMM operation fails with error (2912) 0x80070490 due to a certificate issue:

Hi Leo,

Thanks for the reply. There is no SCVMM in this setup.

The host server certificates in vmms/Personal and vmms/Trusted Root Certification Authorities have been regenerated but the VMs are still not able to boot up.

Hi Realsour,

When regenerated the certificate mentioned in the blog, check if it is valid.

Then we could check the certificates of all hyper-v related services, whether they are valid or not. If not, we could delete it and restart hyper-host to regenerate.

Best Regards,

Leo
