how to run .AVI on win 2008 R2
i am trying to run avi Learning video on my workstation (win 2008 R2) i have all hardware drivers installed perfectly i installed a codec pack(the CCCP,and i also tryed the k-light pack) both failed to open avi files;but i can run mkv or any other file is there any thing that should be done on server 2008,in order to run the videos? any help will be good,thanks in advanced

did you install the feature "desktop experienace"? it installs windows media player, you should be able to watch avis then

Videolan can probably play the file if you don't want to install the desktop experience feature, http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ -- Mike Burr

Hi Hussein, Desktop Experience is the standard solution of playing AVI on Windows 2008. Or you can choose third party players such as Media Player Classic and the one provided by Mike.
