how to remove failed AD from DC?
One of our mailstore was crash, we have reinstall again the mailstore server. We are not able to use the same hostname for mailstore; when we join the domain it said the hostname taken. We found that the old mailstore's hostname still persist at DC. I think this was the reason why we can not use the same hostname. How can we remove the failed mailstore from DC?

If the mail store server was a member server then please logon to the Domain Controller got to the Active Directory Users and computer ...> Expand the Domain name ...>Go to the computers OU and delete the computer name form there. It the mail store server was also a DC then you should do a meta data clenaup http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555846 http://www.virmansec.com/blogs/skhairuddin

Hello, just go to dsa.msc (AD UC) and delete the wanted account. If this server was a DC then you have to perform a metadata cleanup. Hello, if the server was Domain Controller a metadata cleanup is required, otherwise remove it from AD UC and DNS zones. http://msmvps.com/blogs/mweber/archive/2010/05/16/active-directory-metadata-cleanup.aspxBest regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.
