how to know MPIO problems?

Windows Server 2008 R2 sp1

yesterday two of my blades went offline. there are 8 Windows VM as guests there. since the blades are Oracle products, i opened ticket with Oracle. they say to apply MPIO patch but as i read the document, it says to apply only if my servers are suffering from MPIO problems. the KB mentioned are KB 2522766 and  KB 979743.

how do i know if my servers are having MPIO problems?

The blade run what OS ? As for the MPIO it's only valid if in your guests your use like a iSCSI connector.

the blades run on RHEL 6.x and nope we're not using iSCSI.

Then ask the technician why he ask to update for MPIO the guests OS, make no sense, as it's the blade OS that use MPIO to keep the VM up, the physical layer is never seen by the VM.

I suggest to check there http://www.redhat.com/en/services/support

well would you believe Oracle said that on their Oracle VM running on their own blades. *shrugs*

i recreated the offending VM guest and move the LUN to it, then deleted corrupted guest. that fixed it. no thanks to Oracle.
