how to configure a Cluster Node as Standby in a 4 node cluster/

hi,

I wnat to setup a 3/4 node cluster.

I know how to do 2 node fail over cluster with windows server 2012 R2.

I just want to know how to make a cluster node always as standby in case of any node failure in a 4/8 node cluster environment.

where to do the configurations or settings to make a node as standby node for fail over.

thanks in advance

There is no ' official' standby node in a cluster.  But, on the properties of any of the cluster resources, you can specify preferred nodes.  In a four node cluster, you could specify three of the nodes as preferred nodes and leave the fourth node off the list.  This does not prevent the resource from failing to the 'un-preferred' node, but it does say the other nodes are preferred.

Here is a blog post that explains some of it -

That blog references a coupled of other articles that also provide more insight, so you should read those references, too.
