how to block yahoo mail and gmail in TMG 2010

Hi everyone

Recently I have configured a TMG 2010 in my network and now my boss wants to block all web email access specially yahoo mail and gmail ?

I tried URL filtering and IP filtering but it is not working , my clients still can use yahoo mail and gmail from the main page of yahoo and google .

If any one has any experience or solution for my problem please kindly let me know .

Hi,

Thank you for the post.

You may use domain name sets instead of URL sets to block gmail: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc441706.aspx

Hi,

Thank you for the update.

If you only want to block web mail, please create a deny rule with Web E-mail from URL Categories.

I need to close yahoo mail and gmail in TMG , what categories I should add to web email in URL categories?

I added below URLs but it doesn't working

1) *.gmail.com/*

2)mail.yahoo.com/*

3)login.yahoo.com/*

4)www.gmail.com/*

and I added below rule to my TMG :

name          action               protocol                             from                              to                        condition

no email         deny              http / https              internal / local host             web Email                 all users

can you please exactly tell me what URL I should close to close email access in yahoo and gmail? Do you have any link that explain it ?

thank you

Thank you dear NickGu for your update

I am successful with closing http links on both yahoo mail and gmail and https links on yahoo mail but still I can't close https links on gmail.

I deny https protocol on yahoo mail and gmail urls , it works for yahoo but it is not working for gmail and it is stiil access able :(

It is close when I deny https protocol for *.google.com/* domain url but I can't close all google domain because my clients need google for search and ....

do you have any idea what can I do for that?

thank you very much

I'm sorry for the delay, and for my english... but I think it's a good answer to future visitors.

First step is check if the "SafeSearch" is enabled, because i have solved excluding in the option "SafeSearch" the user group for which "Web E-mail" was restricted.

How works!? The search engine works, but not the webmail.. and thats it!

Best regards!
