Do you mean you want to use DNS names and not IP addresses? If yes, make sure that you are using the correct DNS server. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc753782.aspx For ISA server questions, I recommand to you to use these forums: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/category/forefront This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.

Please use 8.8.8.8 as primary DNS server on your client computer and check if you are able to access hotmail by using www.hotmail.com . If not, please check if there is a firewall or a router filter that is blocking DNS traffic. This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.

Hi, Thank you for your post here. From the description, you want to explicitly allow the Hotmail web access and Windows Live Messenger in ISA server 2006 and you encounter the issue when you add the IP addresses in the rule while there are lots of IP addresses that Hotmail and Windows Live Messenger server have. Hotmail web site: You can create an allow rule to permit the access to the specific URL. Windows Live Messenger client: Try to create allow rule to permit the HTTP traffic and add the application/x-msn-messenger content type for this rule. For more information , please refer to KB 925120. How to block MSN Messenger traffic and Windows Live Messenger traffic by using ISA Server http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925120
