fixing disk errors in raid 5?
I didnt know where i should ask this so i will ask it here
okay i got a server which have hardware RAID 5
I have read that you cannot run chkdisk if you got RAID, because it can mess it up.
Most of you are server admins, and i would like to know what would you do to check your disk for errors if you cannot use scandsk tool because you got RAID arrays
Thanks

Anyone???
Have you checked the downloads page for the RAID controller itself or the OEM from the system you purchased with the RAID Controller?
Typically you dont have to run those types of checks on a RAID Controller, the software for the controller has those functionalities. RAID Controllers aren't designed for stupidity in mind. They are very detailed in nature by the monitoring/configuration
software... the good ones are anyway.Steve Kline

As it is a hardware RAID, the manufacturer should provide tools for checking or fixing disk error. Check Disk cannot fix disk error on RAID.Shaon Shan |TechNet Subscriber Support in forum |If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com
