firewall and RRAS
hi,
in windows 2008 R2 firewall should effect RRAS connections too, right?
When I add a rule say closing port 443, it is closed in the server but when users connect using pptp protocol (through RRAS) their 443 port is open.
should I do anything else so firewall effects RRAS ?

Hi,
Thank you for your post here.
1. Which direct did you enable the policy on? Is it inbound and outbound?
2. Did you find that port 443 traffic from VPN client to the 2008 server is still open after you enable the policy? If not, could you please tell the policy you created in detail?
If you create the port 443 deny inbound policy on the server, please double check whether the rule applies to the
Remote Access interface type.

hi,
Actually all the things I do are in "windows firewall with advanced security" section. so if by policy you mean something else please tell me
about your questions:
1. I tried both inbound and outbound without any luck.
2. I created this firewall rule (in both inbound and outbound):
action: block the connection
protocol tyop: tcp
local ports: all ports
remote ports: specific ports - 443
scope: local and remote allow any IP address
profile: domain, private, public
interface: all
after closing this port I can not access this address from server any more: https://facebook.com
but when I connect through pptp vpn I can access it from my local computer.
Thanks for you help
