Hi I am facing problem of, unable to start MSDTC even thought I have reinstall MSDTC. Once before I able to start it, but unable to see "Local DTC" node under component services. Below is the error message captured from event log. EventID - 4156 String message: RPC raised an exception with a return code RPC_S_INVALIDA_ARG.. Event ID - 4358 The MS DTC Connection Manager is unable to register with RPC to use one of LRPC, TCP/IP, or UDP/IP. Please ensure that RPC is configured properly. If "ServerTcpPort" registry key is configured(DWORD value under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\MSDTC for local DTC instance or under cluster hive for clustered DTC instance), please verify if the configured port is valid and the port is not already in use by a different component. Error Specifics:hr = 0x80070057, d:\w7rtm\com\complus\dtc\dtc\cm\src\iomgrsrv.cpp:2523, CmdLine: C:\Windows\system32\msdtc.exe, Pid: 3644 Event ID - 4356 Failed to initialize the MS DTC Communication Manager. If this doesn't help please provide detailed information about the server OS, incl. Hi I have checked firewall have allow MSDTC all connection. I am not sure what is "d:\w7rtm\com\complus......." ... nothing similar exist in this folder. It is Windows 2008R2, not Win7. I just captured the error from eventlog. I haven't reach to application level yet. After I install MSDTC, started the service, Local DTC node is missing from Component Services. It cause me unable to set ports to be used for MSDTC. If I tried to set the port via registry, the serivce don't even can be started
