Hello, please provide more detailed informatiuon about the machine you are using, especialy the OS version oincluding SP/patch level. Additional which command/program you are running when this error happened. Hi, As Meinolf mentioned, please provide us more information. Except the detailed OS version and command/program running, if you are using the backup utility built into Windows, did the error occur when you were attempting to backup an entire server, a specific disk, or specific files? Were you trying to restore to the same hardware or to different hardware? If it is convenience, please write down the full errors received or the errors in Event Log here for research. Beside the above links, please also check whether the needed service has been disabled or is not starting properly. Refer to the following steps: 1. Open the Services panel. 2. Find and double click the Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider. 3. In the Startup Type menu, select Automatic. 4. Click the Start button. 5. Click Apply and OK. 6. Find the Volume Shadow Copy service and perform the same steps. Then, please check the results. If any of the service cannot be started manually, please let us know. Thanks.
