error 1053 the service did not respond in .....
Is it possible to create a service from a cmd? I ask because I need to run a program as a service so it will start automatically when the server is rebooted or restarted.
The app has a startup folder which is different from the executable file
ex:
@cls
cd \
cd "c:\Program Files\Automatic Data Processing\ADP HandPunch Manager\Data"
start /d "c:\Program Files\Automatic Data Processing\ADP HandPunch Manager\Apps\" ADPHPIScheduler.exe
exit /d 5
So I've saved this as a .cmd file and now I like to run this as a service. I created the following:
sc create ADP_Scheduler binpath= c:\RCS\ADP.cmd start= auto group= axbatch password= Fl0wer$ displayname= "ADP Scheduler"
And it compiled ok and showed up in the Services windows, however, when I go to run it I get the Error 1053 error...
Any ideas on how this can be done? as long as it is a service is the bottom line.

Hi,
The Error 1053 can be caused because the Iisutil.dll DLL adds an access control entry (ACE) to the desktop security descriptor for the services that
run in the system context. The ACE lets the Microsoft Internet Information Services Worker Process Group (IIS_WPG) account log on to the system service desktop. However, if another process sets the desktop security descriptor for the services that run in the
system context to a null value, Iisutil.dll changes the discretionary access control list (DACL). Iisutil.dll changes the DACL list so that any service that uses the noninteractive local system account cannot log on.
If so, please refer to the following Microsoft KB article to check if the hotfix is applicable for you.
You receive an "Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion" error message when a service that uses the
local system account tries to start on a Windows Server 2003-based computer
