dmboot: failed to start volume Volume1 (c:)
Good day, I have an IBM 325 xSeries Server , windows 2000 server with SP4 , 4 Harddisks, 3 are configured as Raid-5 & one separate Harddisk. it was configured as a domain controller & demoted to member server through dcpromo tool. also it is a file server , Information server (IIS) & FTP server . It was working since 5 years & before 2 years I have demoted the server from Domain controller to regular member server & everything was fine till since last couple of weeks it started restarting almost daily & sometimes hangs & needs manual restart (still can ping but nothing is working also the mouse can move but no response & I should press on the power button to shut down power on once again) . The following event is reported : ======================================== Event Type: Error Event Source: dmboot Event Category: None Event ID: 3 Date: 23/04/2010 Time: 5:03:20 PM User: N/A Computer: SERVER1 Description: dmboot: Failed to start volume Volume1 (C:) For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. Data: 0000: 00 00 00 00 03 00 4e 00 ......N. 0008: 00 00 00 00 03 00 50 c0 ......PÀ 0010: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........ 0018: 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........ 0020: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........ ====================================== Have tested the Hardware & nothing wrong , also removed the RAM & cleaned it with a rubber but still the same, The weird thing is that it works fine as a file server when running in "Safe mode with networking" - as well no other services can run since it is running in safe mode. have checked the start up items from registry but nothing wrong. & I dont think it is a driver problem!! Anybody has an idea what is wrong with the server & how can this problem be fixed in order to get this server back to normal status. Regards Elias Dayeh
