dhcp
Hello everybody, I'm from Brazil and came to use this forum, because I could not find answers that would help in my problem on my parents. I have a Windows Server 2008 Enterprise R2, installed on a Dell T610 with 32 GB of Ram, 4 disks in Raid 5. This server is domain controller on my network, and after installing the DHCP, I have a message in my event viewer: This computer has at least one IPv6 address dynamically assigned. For reliable operation of DHCPv6, you should use only static IPv6 addresses. However, it was already disabled IPV6 in the TCP / IP, also tried to disable changing the windows registry with the following parameters.: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Services \ TCPIP6 \ Parameters \ Double-click the entry to modify DisabledComponents DisabledComponents. Note If the input DisabledComponents is unavailable, you must create it. To do this, follow these steps: On the Edit menu, point to New and click DWORD (32 bits). Enter DisabledComponents and press ENTER. Double-click DisabledComponents. Enter any of the following values to configure the IPv6 protocol and click OK: Enter 0 to enable all components IPv6. Note The value 0 is the default setting. Enter 0xffffffff to disable all IPv6 components, except the IPv6 loopback interface. This value also configures Windows to use the IPv4 (Internet Protocol Version 4) instead of the IPv6 prefix policies. Type 0x20 to use IPv4 instead of IPv6 prefix policies. Type 0x10 to disable IPv6 native interfaces. Type 0x01 to disable all IPv6 tunnel interfaces. Type 0x11 to disable all IPv6 interfaces except the loopback interface of IPv6 But neither option worked ie I'm still getting the same message in my event viewer: Below is my ipconfig / all C: \> ipconfig / all Windows IP Configuration Host Name. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : Dell610 Primary DNS Suffix. . . . . . . . . . . . : Cartorio.local Node Type. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : Hybrid IP routing enabled. . . . . . . . . . : No WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . . . : No List of DNS suffix search. . . . . . : Cartorio.local Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection: Connection-specific DNS Suffix. . . . . . : Description. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM5709C GigE (NDIS VBD Client) Physical Address. . . . . . . . . . . . . . I count on the cooperation of all. Thanks, Danilo

Hi, Thank you for your post here. From the description, you reveive the error which indicates that there is dynamiclly assigned IPv6 address even when you have disabled IPv6. 1. In fact, you can choose the option, "Yes, the computer will use a dynamically assigned IP address (not recommended)" to continue the promotion once you have assigned a static IPv4 address and dynamic IPv6 address in place. 2. From my research, it seems that in Windows Server 2008 SP2 the IP address validation check has been modified to ignore DHCP configured IPv6 addresses. Have you tried to uncheck 'Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) on the NIC? After you disable IPv6 in registry, have you rebooted the server? http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/winserversetup/thread/de858a9c-fdad-452c-904c-222f962da3fc

Hello mile, thanks for the reply. Yes I uncheck IPV6, and made the change to the registry, restarting the server after that. Since this server is partially in production, I fear I may have a problem later with IPV6, so I'm trying to minimize any possible problems. But if I reach the conclusion that I will not have any problems, until I could ignore the error message if any. If you have any views on it and can pass me I thank you immensely.
