I want to create a roaming profile in a domain. I don't want to use the netlogon share. I have followed the many documents regarding this procedure, and it doesn't seem to work. Here's what I've done: XP box > Log on as local admin > create user account TemplateUser1 > log on as TemplateUser1 > add a Company Policy.txt file to desktop > Log in as local admin > copy profile via system properties >advan. . . > save to \\servername\profiles\username > change permissions for access by TemplateUser1. All is good so far. I log in to domain as TemplateUser1 and CompanyPolicy.txt is there. Here's is the problem: I copy (on the DC) the user TemplateUser1 with profile as \\servername\proifles\%username%, and end up with the default profile from the XP box. Why? I am expecting the use of a profile from a template user. I want several different template users, and this is not working. I have policies working (DNS is fine) > no run for some users. I gave F/C share and NTFS to the profiles location > g:\users\profiles. Profiles is NOT inheriting permissions. Any ideas. Meinolf Weber, this is one of the many step by step procedures I've followed. It doesn't work. Each new user ends up with the default profile from the XP box if I follow this ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316353 ) process. I've tried it. Any other ideas are appreciated.
