create bootable Windows Server 2008 CDs from DVD installation media
Hey, i have Windows Server 2008 Standard edition DVD and i would like to create bootable CDs from that DVD. Is there any easy way to do it? Referring to the "Getting started guide" which came with original Windows Server 2008 DVD packet: "NOTE: This package may contain only DVD installation media. For instructions to create CD installation media, see http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=101605" This link doesn't forward me to any CD creating guide. I tried to search for it without any results. Thanks in advance

Hi Randomi, thanks for posting in windows forums, AFAIK, you can use magicISO to convert the DVD to an bootable ISO and then burn the ISO using NERO with boot option enabled.sainath !analyze

Hei Sainath, Can you give simple instructions or some site where is instructions? I tried to split the DVD with Magic ISO version 5.5, but there is no option for splitting DVD into smaller pieces. What Nero version should it be used to burn bootable CDs? Randomi

Hi, Microsoft does not provide CD version of Windows Server 2008. Why would you like to split the DVD into CDs? The steps to do so can be complex and it requires third-party tools. And please understand that it is not suitable for us to provide instructions about how to use third-party tools. You may contact third-party tools manufacturers for detailed information. If your computer do not have a DVD-ROM, I suggest using a 4GB (or larger) flash USB drive to install Windows Server 2008. To do so, please refer to the following article: http://www.jesscoburn.com/archives/2007/10/15/installing-windows-2008-via-usb-thumbdrive/ Using a flash USB drive to install Windows Server 2008 will be even faster than using a DVD. Hey Tim Quan , I have DELL 2600 Poweredge server and it's old server and doesn't support booting from usb. This is why I am seeking alternate ways to install server 2008. Do you have any idea why there was the note in the "Getting started guide" what we mentioned before? ("NOTE: This package may contain only DVD installation media. For instructions to create CD installation media, see http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=101605") If it isn't possible to create CDs. Regards Randomi
