convert computer name to user login name
Hello everyone, I am helping out a friend in a large company. He has a list of computer names that need a special local program installed. Actually its a patch for this special program. The problem is he has now way of knowing where these PC's are. How can he cross reference a computer name with the current loged in user. Is there any other way to cross reference the computer name with who is currently logged in?

Windows Server doesn't logg this by default so it will require some work, you could create a simple database using login/logoff scripts. I suggest you search and then maybe post this to this group: (I put ina query for "logged on user") http://www.microsoft.com/technet/community/newsgroups/dgbrowser/en-us/default.mspx?query=logged+on+user&dg=microsoft.public.windows.server.scripting&cat=en-us-technet-mgmt&lang=en&cr=US&pt=&catlist=328BAFD2-1A81-4558-B1DE-B6EB49F31B7E&dglist=&ptlist=&exp=&sloc=en-us A Software asset management tool like is probably the best long term solution. http://www.microsoft.com/resources/sam/default.mspx Brjann
