cannot disable password protected sharing
Hello Experts, here is my setup 1 windows 2008 std edition - member server issue : unable to turn off password protected sharing, it does nothing when i try to disable. I have enabled UAC , so everytime i try disable , it prompts for credentials, i give admin priviliges , no affect. troubleshooting so far : - tested with different user accounts - no luck - ran procmon to identify the dll or keys , no error - followed http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947232 - no luck - made sure that browser , server, workstation service are started and restable - no luck - checked the local system policies , i dont see any suspicious policy being set. i am wondering how to troubleshoot this problem, please assist

Hello BitMask, Could you please perform a trial as domain admin? I also can remember a similar problem (in a workgroup environment). It was resolved after removing the guest account’s passwords. Hello Harry , thank you for the inputs, i disabled guest account , but no luck . This is a member server not added to domain. So as per my knowledge disabling the account / deleting the guest account password should be same right. I tested this on another windows server 2008 in workgroup - it works , so i took procmon dump will analyze it today. strange thing is this queries - power policies ( checked on both working and non working ) which actually make me to think hard. so any inputs will be grately appreciated.
