Hello, I have a Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 used as a stand alone server. Every time I try to access the Windows Firewall console (interface), I get the following error in the event viewer: Event Type: Error Event Source: Service Control Manager Event Category: None Event ID: 7023 Date: 1/07/2012 Time: 11:41:46 a.m. User: N/A Computer: server1 Description: The Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service terminated with the following error: The operating system cannot run Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS). This above record in the event viewer appears after I click the "yes" button to star the service (Windows Firewall / ICS) at the command prompt when trying to acces the Windows Firewall. "Windows Firewall cannot run because the Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) is not running ... " If I try to start the service manually, the same event is registered in the event viewer; but addcionally, I get a dialog box with the following message: "Error 182: 0xb6" I've searched for this error, but I haven't been able to find any ideas as to what is causing this problem and how to fix it. Try this at the command prompt: netsh winsock reset You need to restart the server to see if it worked or not.Imran
