the only feature enabled on the machine where i have found it is .net 3.0 features, no role. the server is patched via wsus though, so if it was part of a update i would have missed that. the only other kb i found on it is http://support.microsoft.com/kb/949545, but that suggests to me it should be on the machine as is and this package only updates it. if you run msiexec /? , what version have you on your machine? (shot in the blue, maybe it comes with a windows installer version, on the machine here runs installer 4.5)

Hi. I am trying to install hotfix 968875 on a win2008-64 host. the MSU file is not associated with any program on this server...what do i need to install to get support for this MSU format? Please let me know. thanks. -frank

Thanks, FZB. that almost worked...i don't seem to have pkmgr.exe or wusa.exe on this host...do i need to enable a feature to get them...or is it another hotfix that will contain these EXE's?

hmm, just did a search on c: on one of our 2008 servers, which didnt return a match. interesting enough, manually looking it up under c:\windows\system32 i did find wusa.exe (and pkgmgr.exe). can you check if you find them in system32?

thanks for checking, FZB. i did a dir wusa.exe /s and did not find it. i searched \windows\system32 and neither of these exe's are there either. maybe it's a feature that needs enabling? thanks, again for your help! -frank
