can browse server shares, but can not map via net use
Nothing has changed there, as i said, this server has been in production for about a year now. Problem doesn't happen on all PCs, we have about 25-30 total and it only occurs on about 4 of them. Everyone is a member of the same groups (these are teacher PCs, and teacher log ins) so I'm a little skeptical that its suddenly a rights issue. And as I said before, I can go to Start|Run \\servername\ and see, get in to, and modify files inside the shares. I just can't map to them using the net use command as it prompts for a username and password all of the sudden.

I'm aware I can map them with different methods. The log in script using "net use" was working last week, and now it is not. This yells "Hey there is a problem somewhere" and I wish to fix it, not ignore it. At the very least I want to know why it happened so I know if there are any pitfalls down the road with leaving it, or if there are bigger problems in store. Thanks for the reply!

Hello, I have a windows server 2008 R2 server, with AD installed and working that has been running for about a year now, everything has been going great. Untill today. I have had several users tell me they no longer have thier shared drives from the server. After checking, it appears that the login script (that has been there since day one) is now asking for a user name and password reguardless who logs in to the PC. Odd thing is tho, I can browse to the UNC path, and access the shares just fine that way. Just to make sure there wasn't an issue with the login script, i tried to map a drive from the command line, got the same thing. Does anyone know why this could be happening, and how I can fix it?? my clients are running WinXP SP3 TIA Drew

You can use GPP to map drivers instead of net use command: http://blogs.technet.com/b/askds/archive/2009/01/07/using-group-policy-preferences-to-map-drives-based-on-group-membership.aspx This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.
