can't update my logon scripts
hi,
i have had a couple of logon scripts that have been around for close to 13 years - they don't do much, but they are perfect for us. They are launched via the user logon script property (which i set in aduc).
yesterday i went to make a slight change to the file - located on the domain controller in c:\windows\sysvol\sysvol\domain\scipts - however, it won't let me save any files to that locations. when i right click and go to NEW, my only option is to create
another folder. if i open one of the scripts and change it, i cannot then save it. i am logged on as a domain admin and have full permissions. what is going on here?
i am wondering if this is related to a rather annoying thing i have noticed. since i upgraded my file server to w2k8 (well, fresh install of w2k8 and pointed to the SAN), when i try to go to certain folders it gives me an issue, makes me hit continue,
then takes forever to let me into the folder - again i have full control permissions so i should be allowed right in.
I am sure that this is related to some cool windows security feature, but i am finding it quite annoying. can anyone offer me some help on how to work with this stuff.
thanks

Hi,
Try opening an elevated command prompt, navigate to the scripts directory and create a new script or edit an existing on by running "notepad <script name>".
1.
Open command prompt:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Open-a-Command-Prompt-window
2.
Navigate to scripts directory: type "cd c:\windows\sysvol\sysvol\domain\scipts"
Thanks,
John

How did you update the script? Using notepad?
Try to open Notepad in using an Admin account and then open the script.
