Hello, you talk aboout existing AD domains or website names? This is not really clear for me. If you have 7 diifferent AD domains you can use ADMT to migrate them into one, as lojng as no names are doubled used. http://msmvps.com/blogs/mweber/archive/2010/03/25/migrating-active-directory-to-a-new-forest.aspxBest regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.

Hello, what do you want to perform exactly? Do you have seven AD domains and you want to work with just one? If yes, use ADMT to migrate users to a single domain. Do you want that users in a domain will be able to access resources of other domains? If yes, create trust relationships. Do you have seven Web servers that you want to let them member of a domain? If yes, go to computer properties and join them. This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights. I am looking over a basket of software to see what will give my a good server stack. I make the VM an active directory machine so I f I use another VM I can see about migrations etc. So I am using Server 2008 with Sharepoint 2007 so far, with Expression Studio 4 and Visual Studio 2010 as the application stack. SSO the way I see it is like the Microsoft Passport My MVP is for the Windows Desktop Experience, i.e. Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 IT Remote Assistance is available for a fee. ATM I am testing Server 2003 R2 EE on the old Acer, out of the box it still does not support multiple web sites like Server 2008. With 512 MB of RAM server 2008 will install but its very slow. I am installing webmatrix to Server 2003 R2 to see if that will bring vhosts up but I am cynical. It has IIS 7.5 express which reeks of a crippled tool. My goal, some SKU or other of Window Server running on the Acer, better is server 2003 as its faster but if I have to Server 2008 will get the job. The problem with the old Acer is that it uses DDR memory and that is not very easy to find these days. Hi Vegan, Going through the entire thread, it sounds difficult to determine the issue or direction to the resolution for this thread. Can you please rephrase what the requirement is? Is this around AD or IIS or Hardware or Virtualization? Thanks. Ketan Thakkar | Microsoft Online Community Support

I gave up on server 2003 as I could not get virtual hosts operational. Servere 2008 seems 100x better and I was up in a matter of 1 hours to install it and setup some roles including remote desktop, IIS, Application server and file server. So far IIS is working with HTML OK, I do plan to add PHP soon and I also want to support C# too so hence the application server which suggested ASP.NET support. My machine is rather limited with 512 MB of memory, but I have server 2008 up and serving web pages at last. Live Mesh seems to be the only solution for backups. Syncing with another machine seems prudent. My MVP is for the Windows Desktop Experience, i.e. Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 IT Remote Assistance is available for a fee.
