autoarchiving?
I have a Windows 2003 domain. Clients are using XP or Windows 7 and running Outlook 2003/2007. Inboxes are massive for most users, some approaching 4GB and I really need to clear up space.
I noticed none of their Autoarchive settings have been configured properly to archive old items from their Inbox folder. That is a huge reason why.
I downloaded Outlk12.adm administrative template in an attempt to use that as a Group Policy. Unfortunately it does everything except dictate where to "Move old items to". For the most part they all point to the local directory on their drive.
If anything happens to the local drive they will lose all their old email so I can't really use Outlk12.adm template.
Does anybody have any suggestions as to how I can force their Autoarchive settings to put a pst on the network share instead of a local drive?
Also what do you recommend for settings under AutoArchive?

Hi,
Your domain is Windows Server 2003. So whats your Exchange server version? 2003, 2007 or 2010?
If you are using the Exchange server 2010, you could use the Exchange Personal Archive and Retention Policies; there is a link for your reference:

If not, I think you need to ask the question in the Office forum about the Group policy settings in the Outlook template:

Towards your last inquiry about the location of the Auto archive, I think different users will have folders; different folders will be added different permissions for different users. So I think it could be done via script. Any scripting question could be
asked in the forum below:
