You should use safe mode with networking. Also make sure logon using the local Admin account or using cached credentials (if available). If cached credentials are available, remove the network cable and try to logon.MCTS - Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Is this a member server or a DC? If member server then disconnected network cable and login with cached credentials then continue your troubleshooting. If this is a DC you can't login locally, this error means domain controller is malfunctioning and not advertising itself as a domain controller. you would need to get into AD restore mode and repair active directory. i have select as a active directory repair Were you trying to restore AD from backup? If yes then looks like it was unsuccessful or your backup was not good Let us know for additional assistance. Sachin Gadhave (MCP, MCTS)

Hello Srini, As Marius Ene said, Login into the server using safe mode with networking and revert the msconfig settings to normal as same as before. If you want to restore AD, Use NTDSUTIL options. Regards, Ravikumar P
