i have a assus notebook that i used to let my 12 year old play games on until he crashed it. well i took it to his mothers house so she could fix it and when i got it back she explained she had to install windows 7 to get it to work. okay no big deal except for she went in command prompt and set up some kind of group something and now when i want to install something or change a setting it says i need permission from the administer and asks for a password which she says she doesnt know. how to i fix it

The feature, which prompts for the password is called USer Account Control. Here you can find some hints on reseting the password:

In the end it could be easier to just re-install the notebook.
