XP workgroup computer not in DNS
Hi, We have a 2003 domain with a DHCP server. All computers are getting an IP from the DHCP. DHCP is configured to register clients in DNS. When a XP workgroup computer is getting an IP address, the name is not registered in DNS. But a win7 workgroup is registerd. With ad member computers there is no problem. How can I also dynamicly register the XP workgroup computers?

Hi Panjo_123, Please kindly try to set a Primary DNS suffix of this computer for the Windows XP box. Ths can be found in Computer properties. Hope it helps. Thanks and Regards Scorpio_Milo MCTS: Windows Vista | Exchange Server 2007 MCITP: Enterprise Support Technician MCITP: Server & Enterprise Administrator Microsoft Infrastructure Consultant Enterprise Service: Solution Architect Microsoft Storage Team - File Cabinet Blog My Blog

Hello, do yiou use secure dynamic updates only on the DNS zones? Should not, because Windows 7 workgroup machines will register but check.Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.

Primary DNS suffix is set. In DNS I have secure updates only. Should I change this to secure and non-secure?
