XP pc's very slow opening files on 2003 network since 7 days ago
Since last Wednesday (29-06-11) all the xp pro pc's on our network take forever to download files. the network has 4 servers 2003 r2 . You can browse with no problem but when you for instance download a 300 kb word doc it will take 5 - 10 mins. On a windows 7 pc it is as fast as its always been. Nothing has changed configuration wise, but servers are set to download patchs automaticaly and it seems to have happened Tuesday / Wednesday last week. maybe a patch for the network protocol? any help much appreciated

Hi m3trackboy, Thanks for posting here. Is this the first time you encounter this issue? Have this issue happened previously ? have you patched the latest service pack and hotfix for Windows Server 2003 and XP client ? You mentioned there are four server hosts in this scenario, have you deployed DFS also ? and was there any error or warring recorded on server or client ? if yes, please post the ID and description here. And you mentioned these server was recently been patched, could you also post the KB number of this hotfixes here ? To temporarily work around this issue, restart the Server services on the server. To restart the Server services, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, and then click Run. 2. In the Open box, type cmd, and then click OK. 3. At the command prompt, type the following lines, and press ENTER after each line: 4. net stop server 5. net start server Thanks.
