XP Pro SP3 client unable to join Server 2008 R2 Domain
Hi There I'm trying to connect an xp machine to a windows 2008 server r2 domain, when i try to add the xp machine i get a "bad username or password" error. I know the password is correct as i can use it to join a windows 7 machine. From the XP machine i can 1. ping the dc 2. do an nslookup of the domain and it returns the ip adress and name of the dc 3. i have sp3 installed 4. i have tried the .com version of my domain name eg, dom.com instead of dom Is there a difference in the way 2008 deals with security and joing the domain ? Thanks for any assistance

please use the administrator username to connect the dc and it at all ur using the admin as username to connect then please make a new user add it into the admin group. Also try disableing the firewall o nthe server and try. http://www.virmansec.com/blogs/skhairuddin
