Workstation cannot access internet
II have a workstation that cannot access the internet. All of the workstations are configured with Static Ips and the same except for the Ip for the particular workstation. I set this workstation to DCHP just to be sure there wasn't a conflict,
but that did not help. I don't think it is that configuration that is the problem. The workstation was ok until recently (I don't know when the problem began, because the user didn't report it). Other than the Internet Protocol configuration,
what can I look at?
Thank you for your help and God Bless,
God Bless, Mark A. Sam

Hi Mark,
There could be a lot of reasons starting with the IP misconfiguration and ending with the malfunctioning TCP stack. You need to troubleshoot it step be step, start with the NIC (try to ping localhost), then go further to the network (ping gateway), etc.
One of the possible reasons is CONFICKER virus, use Microsoft Windows Malicious Software removal Tool to check the PC.

In addition to Kudrat's suggestion, here is a summary that you can review to learn how to use the simple PING command to help determine where you may have netowork connectivity issues:

Kudrat,
I could ping an ip address and get a response but not a text address like localhost, gateway,
www.microsoft.com. When I ping a text address I get this message:
The procedure entry point WSCUpdateProvider could not be located in the dynamic link library WS2_32.dll.
Then message:
The procedure entry point DnsApiFree could not be located in dynamic link library DNSAPI.dll.
Then I received the first message again.
God Bless,
Mark

Hello
try and run an sfc /scannow to make sure that your OS files are intact and have not been modified or corrupted.
