Hello All! We are doing a test for a server move for our Domino server and we are having terrible name resolution issues when it comes to the Lotus client finding the server. Before I continue, let me preface a few questions: We aren't using Windows DNS and have no direct control over it. According to our sources, our DNS server is Unix/Linux and it has issues. Our Network Architect is actively telling people to use customized host files that are using IP addresses. This is what is prompting us to use WINS. Ok, now that you know those 2 key points, I was wondering if there is a service in WINS that will allow us to work with name pipes? If there is what's the service that WINS needs to work with name pipes from SQL server? Any and all help will be appreciated!

Hi, For one think you should have netbios over tcp/ip enabled as SQL named pipes authentication relies heavily on this.
