Windows failed to start
HiI have 2008 server x64 running SQL 2005. I added a new role (Hyper-V) to it and got this message on the restart: "Windows failed to start" File: \Windows\system23\mvstdi5a.sysWindows cannot verify the digital signature for this file. I have tried running repair from the installation media but it failed.I have also tried disabling driver verification on boot. This worked and server went on booting until it started installing some updates 3 of 3. During the installation of these updates SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION occured and server restarted. What can I do to solve this problem? I can not boot in SAFE mode because of the digital signature error. When I dissable digital signature I get SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION.Please help

Yes I do have Mcafee antivirus enterprise installed. Would it be possible to boot from server 2008 DVD and uninstall Mcafee through command prompt, or try and remove Hyper-V role?

Syed, thank you for pointing out about mcafee file. I have solved the problem by removing Mcafee and its associated files in the \Windows\system23\drivers folder. I was not able to do a proper uninstall as msiexec doesn't run in repair mode, nor I was able to remove Hyper-V role. I will just have to do some cleaning up of registry and system files that are left from Mcafee installation, but that is better than rebuilding the whole server. In the future I might adopt a policy with no antivirus on the servers, except for network file servers.
