Windows could not connect to the User Profile service
Hello, a couple of times we have received the an error in the application log and after this point, users can no longer RDP into the server until we reboot the server. Users are met with "Windows could not connect to the User Profile service" when trying to logon. We are using Windows Server 2008. This happens when I combine the Terminal Service Roles with Network Policy Server Role, DHCP Server Role and DNS Server Role... But when I split those roles everything back into a normal state... One more thing, I'm using virtual machine on this process and using two virtual network adapters inside... I've already tried to removing all roles and create again those roles, reset using netsh winsock, restarting the user profile service, terminal server service, network policy server services, but sometimes the problems shows again... Please help me for this case, thank you...

Hi, Check Remote Desktop Services event log for additional related information:RDS server>Event Viewer>Custom Views>Server Roles>Remote Desktop Services Refer to this previous discussion and follow the troubleshooting steps: Windows could not connect to the User Profile service - Windows 2008 R2 RDS http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winserverTS/thread/b5111766-6dfc-4174-bd13-188c75aa3da6 Regards, Cicely

I don't receive any error code... Only when we want to log on to the terminal server there's two conditions : 1. As an admin there's a black screen desktop with a pop up notification "Windows could not connect to the User Profile service service. This problem prevents limited users from logging on to the system. As an administrative user, you can review the system event log for details about why the service didn't respond".. When i am check the system event log, there are no any issue that makes the user profile service stopped or something.. 2. As an limited users, just an error logging message "Windows could not connect to the User Profile service service"
