This morning when I logged into our Windows 2008 server, I saw a bubble alert on the system tray. I click on it and it popped up this window:

Windows could not activated

If you continue to see this error message contact your system administrator or technical support department for assistance

Error: 0x4004F00D

Description:

The Software Licensing Service reported that the application is running within the valid out of tolerance grace period.

When I ran this commend: slmgr -dlv

This is what popped up:

is your KMS server active and can you contact it in the network?

What is "KMS" server?

If you get this with office after a sysprep, the solution is here:

TLDR: You need to rearm the office install before imaging.
