Windows activation Status Not Available

Hi,

I have problem with SBS 2011 on Windows Server 2008 R2. Three days ago I installed updated and the process failed in some reason. The system rolled back itself after couple of hours and it showed me 3 updates were failed.

As everything looked ok I didnt bothered too much about this. But today the system shows me it is not genuine.

In system:

Windows activation

               Status Not Available

               Product ID: Not Available

When I try to set key manually: (slmgr.vbs /ipk Prduct_Key) Im getting error message:

On a computer running Microsoft Windows non-core edition, run slu.exe 0x2a 0xD0000034 to display the error text. Error: 0xD0000034

When I run slui.exe

For sure I have valid license (HP branded) and the key was activated over year ago without any problems.

Ive deleted tokens.dat but this hasnt helped.

Also output from Microsoft Genuine Advanced Diagnostic Tool wasnt too helpful from me but maybe somebody else can see more:

Hi,

Based on my search, the error code means corrupted system files. I think rebuilding server or performing in-place upgrade is the most efficient method.

For this who have the same problem - solution is quite simple but it took me three months to find it:

boot from your installation DVD and do the following steps

  1. Press SHIFT + F10 to launch CMD as Administrator.
  2. Type regedit to launch Registry Ediditor.
  3. Select HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and Go to File -> Load Hive, select Computer->%windir%/system32/config/SYSTEM
  4. Type MY_SYSTEM as name for the hive.
  5. Select MY_SYSTEM under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
  6. Delete WPA key under MY_SYSTEM.
  7. Select MY_SYSTEM, goto File -> Unload Hive.
  8. Exit Registry Editor.
  9. Exit CMD Prompt.
  10. Quit the Installation to reboot to your system.

Hello Piotrkow,

For the last 3 days, I've been trying to resolve a very similar very nagging ('man-against-machine') issue in Windows 7 Professional x64 on a remotely located PC  (I access it through TeamViewer and/or JumpDesktop). All symptoms look exactly the same (0xD0000034 error, Windows validation problems) . Even the computer brand (HP) is the same, but that may be coincidental...   In addition to Windows being qualified as non-legit, Windows Updates also fail with error 0xD0000034.

Only history of this PC that I have is that it has a fully official HP OEM Windows Professional label on the outside, but some other guy that was here before me must have messed up, and decided to install some illegal key instead for unknown reasons to me.

Tried an almost endless list of approaches/suspected solutions, all to no avail. Even my last resort method (a Windows 7 Repair Install) fails at around 95% of the process.

Eventually stumbled onto this solution. Now unfortunately, there's no way to try it out since I cannot access the PC physically yet. I guess there are no easy ways to remove the HKLM/SYSTEM/WPA registry key in an ONLINE situation, so I'll have to try and get at the PC physicially some time soon and try this out using the recovery console, and let you guys know the result.

Meanwhile, funny thing is: the system can be used and acts and functions normally and perfectly (apart from the non-ligit message and Windows Updates failing that is).
