Windows XP 2003 Server black screen on boot up but able to login (by trial and error)
Hi,
I have a windows xp 2003 server.
When I boot up, when it suppose to appear the ctrl-alt-del login screen, the screen is black in colour.
I tried ctrl-alt-del, and i saw cursor moving. and when i type, the cursor did move.
So i was thinking whether i can try to login. And kudos, i managed to log in to see my desktop and stuff.
However i need a solution to solve the login part. Why did i not see the login window?
Anybody got a solution to this?

Hello,
try one of the following:
Restore your system state using a restore point that dates before the appearance of your problem
Update your graphic driver and try again scan all your disks to delete possible presence of viruses/spywares/malware programs and perform a repair install

Hi,
In addition, please also refer to the following Microsoft KB article for further troubleshooting information:
After the Windows Logo displays or after you log on to Windows, a Windows XP-based computer may only display the wallpaper, a black screen, or a blue
screen
