Windows Update service disabled on server 2008 R2 after reboot
Hello, On one of my 2008 R2 servers windows update service is always disabled after rebooting the server.I can start the service without any problems,updates are working fine as well,but as soon as the server get restarted it changes back to disabled.Already checked for viruses,trojans,worms etc. with different programs and they found nothing.Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Also try a diagnostic startup 1) Start|Run|msconfig 2) On Services tab check "Hide all Microsoft services", then "Disable all" 3) On Startup tab "Disable all" Also check that Remote Procedure Call (RPC) (RpcSs) is running Regards, Dave Patrick .... Hi Dave, Still no luck.Even after disabling all non-Microsoft services and all startup applications,after server reboot the service is disabled.RPC is running. I forgot to mention that this is XenApp 6 server.Installed roles - Application Server and Remote Desktop Services. Thanks, Ivo

Turns out to be XenApp tuning registry pack applied via GP that disable the "wuauserv" service. Hive HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE Key path SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\wuauserv. Thanks Dave for pointing me toward the GP :) You have a nice weekend. Ivo
