I have a windows 2003 server that windows updates failes on netframework 3.5 sp1 update and visual c++ 2008 sp1 update. Any suggestions would be helpful.

I have been able to get them to work by manually downloading the updates and manually running them. Also, some updates don't like to play if a core program is not running. (SQL updates come to mind if certain elements of SQL are disabled and the services not running)
