Windows Storage Server 2003 sharing
I have a server set up with windows storage server 2003. When anyone tries to access the server it askes for a user name and password. Is there anyway that I can set it so that anyone can access the files without a user name or password. and if so, can you explain the sets to me.

i think we should be able to help out with this. can you give us an idea of what you mean by access the server? are they trying to get to a share that you set up? is this machine in a domain? are the users accessing it coming in from a domain?

When you go to NETWORK PLACES an icon of the server pops up there. when i click on it, it askes for a user name and password. I just want that to not ask for a user or password. the domin is just the default WORKGROUP

okay, getting access to work that way in workgroup mode without authentication prompts really isn't recommended. it requires quite a bit of relaxing of security settings like 'access this computer from the network', adjusting file and share permissions, etc.
this is really a problem that a domain is intended to solve. is it possible to join your machines to a domain? this gives you better management but also the ability to have single sign-on (they log on to their machine and then can access any shares where they have the appropriate permission) without the additional prompts.
if this isn't possible, i think the next best suggestion would be to leverage mapped drives with stored passwords. you will need to configure this on each client machine that connects to your server. it can be done through the UI with 'map network drive' or at the command-line with 'net use'.
