Windows Server Updates Keep Wanting to Install
What in the world makes Window Server want to load the same updates over and over again.
Patches that have already loaded get chosen again when I go to update site and are dropped again.
Over and over and over again. Same KB articles too.
Thanks

you can check windowsupdate.log in %windir% to find out more what might go wrong. alternatively you can try to download one of the failing kb fixes manually and see what error you get wehn you try to install it

Hi ScramblingITGuy,
Do you know what are the updates that are installed over and over?
This problem can occur because:
An error occurred during installation. The update was not installed.
The update was installed. However, a file was not updated when the computer restarted.
Please first determine whether the updates were installed by viewing update history in Windows Update.
If the status of the update is failed which means the update is not successfully installed, please right click the failed update and choose
view detail and check the error code. Please post the error code here for further investigation.
If the problematic updates are installed successfully but still prompt for installation all the time, it’s most likely to be the second
condition.
To troubleshoot the problem, please use the methods under the section of “How to troubleshoot the problem if the updates was installed”
described in the following KB.
How to troubleshoot Windows Update or Microsoft Update when you are repeatedly offered an update
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/910339
If none of the method would work in the previous KB and the problem persists, you can choose to hide the updates by clicking
view available update in Windows Update, right click the problematic update and choose
hide updates.

Karen Ji
