Hi, Based on my research, there were several known issues regarding "Windows Server Initial Configuration Tasks has stopped working" on pre-RTM Windows Server 2008 OS. And these issues should be fixed in RTM version. Therefore, please first confirm whether you have installed Windows Server 2008 RTM version. If so, please download and install .NET Framework 3.5 SP1: Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=ab99342f-5d1a-413d-8319-81da479ab0d7&displaylang=en In addition, here is a similar issue with another solution: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/winservermanager/thread/f80a52fc-b022-4dd4-af35-621f1e7fe67c Regards, Bruce
