Windows Server Backup 2008 EXE. Missing
I recently added the role of Windows Server Backup under Server Manager > Features. I would normally open it from going to Start > Administration Tools and it would be directly above WSUS. But I decided to put it on the desktop by dragging and dropping it. I then decided that I didn't want it on the desktop anymore so I decided to delete it. Now when I go back into Start > Administration Tools its not above WSUS. I decided to just remove the feature, restart the computer, reinstall the feature and it is still not there. The only way I can see it is under Server Manager > Storage and Windows Server Backup. Currently that is the only way I can see it. Is there a way I can put it back under the Administration tools? I know the links under Administration Tools are shortcuts, so would one of you be able to right click it and click file location and provide it for me? If not can you please give me some advice on how to get it back under Administration Tools. Regards

There are no restore points. As of yet... All I can think of is a fresh install which is out of the question for me due to this server finally being built by myself and a few others.

Your management od server is not very standard one. Majority of administrators work with shortcuts and that is why my search in Google engine give no answer. The second procedure I would suggest is restore with operating system DVD. Start from DVD and instead of new install use Upgrade. HTH (Otherwise reinstall the server and use standard administration procedures.) Milos

A ll right, like I said that is out of the question so I cannot do that. I may have to look other programs. But could you please tell me where the shortcut file would be located? I know the WSUS is usually located in... c: \ program files\updateServices\adminstrionsnapin Where would the Windows Server Backup be? so that way I could just put the shortcut back in the administration tools. Hi, Please perform the following steps: 1. Open C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Administrative Tools in your explorer. 2. Right click to create a Shortcut. 3. Type %windir%\system32\wbadmin.msc in the “Type the location of the item” box, client next. 4. Type Windows Server Backup in the “Type a name for this shortcut” box, click Finish. 5. Right click on the new created shortcut, select Properties. 6. In the Start box, type %windir%\system32. 7. In the Comment box, type Perform a backup or recovery of this server. 8. Try to run it and you will be able to get Windows Server Backup start. Best Regards, Vincent Hu
