Windows Server 2012 Essentials backup is not keeping copies

I searched for a while on this, but I have not found an answer that worked.

1. I have Server 2012 Essentials. I have others running w/o any issues and I did not configure this one any different.

2. I have about 380GB of Data files that need twice a day backups. Not on OS drive, I would like backups of both. I am not running any server application besides AV monitoring.

3. I am using a 2TB WD Ext-HD - so plenty of room.

4. I have it backing up twice a day noon and 11PM

5. It is only keeping the backups for about a day. Once the backup runs again it disappears.
I have tried changing it to incremental and starting the wizard over again w/o any different results.

Hi Mike:

What wizard are you running?  The wizard on the backup tab on the Dashboard should ONLY do changed blocks and should ONLY wipe the drive when the upated/changed/new blocks will not fit in the remaining space on the target drive.

One possibility is that your data changes enough that the WBADMIN program that is behind the wizard has to wipe the drive to make room for the changes on the target.  Do you think this could be the case?
