Windows Server 2012 Datacenter - Media Question
My company recently purchased 2 x Dell R620 Servers with Windows Server 2012 Datacenter. We are intending to run HyperV on these servers with a number of 2012 and also W2K8R2 VM's. I want to know where do I get the media for W2K8R2 & W2K12 and also which license key should I use when I install W2K8R2 & W2K12? I am assuming that the OEM License key that Dell provided will not work with W2K8R2. We do not have any previous versions of Windows at our site as this is a new organisation. Thanks AG

Hi, this article may help: http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/partnersysbuildlicensing/thread/5c66ae69-f4ad-4f61-ac7b-4af1382d019e You may need to contact MS Activation Center: http://www.microsoft.com/Licensing/existing-customers/activation-centers.aspx In some cases, you can convert an evaluation installation (freely downloadable) to a full license: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj574204.aspx But note: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2021579 Don (Please take a moment to "Vote as Helpful" and/or "Mark as Answer", where applicable. for oem you should have to get media from hardware vendor or its coming with the server. other versions(olp) of ea you can directly download from your portal.Darshana Jayathilake

There is a Microsoft website where you can order dvd's of all the os you need. With the cd the correct license code is provided. On this site you need to register your oem key before you can order the dvd's. You only pay a small fee for the dvd and shipping. Microsoft statement is that you are allowed to install the software with any other media if you already have the media. The license is covert with the datacenter license. If you don't have the media or key, you can order them. Unfortunately I lost the url but when you contact Microsoft they should be able to tell you the url.
