Windows Server 2008 Slow Login
Hey guys, I have an issue with slow logins on a Windows Server 2008 virtual server. The local ip of the Windows 2008 server is 192.168.x.x, and it is behind a firewall; however, the server has access through the firewall to our DNS servers (10.1.x.x). The Windows 2008 server is defined on the DNS servers with a 10.1.x.x ip address which is MIPed through the firewall to it's 192.168.x.x address. This is were the problem lies, but I don't know how to fix it: If I migrate that Windows 2008 virtual server to the same network as the DNS servers giving it the 10.1.x.x ip address defined in DNS, the server logs in fine. Essentially Windows Server 2008 does reverse lookups on its DNS name, and if there is a conflict with its local IP, a side-effect is a slow login (3 to 4 minutes). Does anyone know where change a setting on Windows Server 2008 so it doesn't run that reverse lookup slowing down the logins? Thanks!

Hello, please post an unedited ipconfig /all from the server. Please clarify "The Windows 2008 server is defined on the DNS servers with a 10.1.x.x ip address which is MIPed through the firewall to it's 192.168.x.x address", especially the part "MIPed" and "it's 192.168.x.x address", does it have 2 ip addresses over a firewall? Not clear for me.Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.
