Windows Server 2008 Security
What security are we supposed to use with Windows Server 2008? McAfee Total Protection for servers is only for Server 2003 not 2008, and Windows Live OneCare for Server is not released yet?

Are you talking about real-time protection? I would stay away from any real-time anti-virus protection for servers, because it kills performance considerably, and unless users are running files on the server (like a terminal server), then you don't really need realtime. If it's a file server, use scheduled anti-virus scanning on your user file shares. If it's a web/SQL server, you really do not not want real-time virus scanning. Pointless.Hopefully I've helped.

Hi, For the security consideration, Windows Server 2008 has a build-in new feature which is known as Windows Defender. Windows Defender can detect and remove known spyware and malware from your computer, which helps make your Internet browsing safer. The software uses automatic definition updates provided by Microsoft analysts to help detect and remove new threats as the threats are identified. We can simply enable Windows Defender by installing the "Desktop Experience" via Server Manager on the Windows Server 2008 based computer. You may also consider using anti-virus software that is certified for Windows Vista. Generally speaking, Anti-virus software that is certified for Windows Vista should work as well or better on Windows Server 2008 than Certified for Windows Server 2003 software. To get the application list that is certified for Windows Vista, please refer to the following link: https://winqual.microsoft.com/member/softwarelogo/certifiedlist.aspx Meanwhile, some third party web sites have also provided their review for different kinds of Anti-Virus.
