Windows Server 2008 R2 keeps hanging
Hi there,Basically i have an issue, not sure if anyone has faced it before. Originally my server where i have installed my AD and xchange keeps hanging after installing SSL certificate. Thinking it was to do with hardware, we replaced the hardware piece by piece until the whole server is now a brand new server but yet it still keeps hangingMe n my colleague then decided to reformat the Server, and transferring all the AD and xchange over to server B, except for the SSL where we install it back on the Server after reformatting it. Within a day the server hangs again. here are some of the errors on the event viewer that it is repeating: The following fatal alert was generated: 10. The internal error state is 1203.And the attached picture

I'd ask them here about exchange issues. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/category/exchangeserver/ Regards, Dave Patrick .... I would follow Dave suggeston to post in the Exchange's forum, but I am curious if the exchange server was hanging with the default 1 year certificate it generate at the install ? The powershell got some command to help for any certificate's error. Start with Get-ExchangeCertificate, and clean the database (http://www.msexchange.org/articles_tutorials/exchange-server-2007/management-administration/managing-exchange-certificates-part3.html) To be honest I suspect a bigger problem with the eventid 5015 from your transport's role (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/support/ee/transform.aspx?ProdName=Exchange&ProdVer=8.0&EvtID=5015&EvtSrc=MSExchangeTransport&LCID=1033) MCP | MCTS 70-236: Exchange Server 2007, Configuring

Hi, if you using 2008 R2, start the Best Practices Analyzer to check the roles on the server: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd392255(v=ws.10).aspxKind regards, Tim MCITP, MCTS http://directoryadmin.blogspot.com This posting is provided 'AS IS' with no warranties or guarantees and confers no rights.

Hello, First of all it is not recommended to have AD and exchange both the roles on one server. I could also see some VSS error as well. Which is again a pretty memory intensive process. I would really recommend to installed these 2 roles on 2 different servers. But for now For event ID 5015 & 5016 http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=4c4bd2a3-5e50-42b0-8bbb-2cc9afe3216a&displaylang=en Event ID 2019 is for non paged pool memory leak. That is the reason why server is hanging. There is one or more drivers which are causing the memory leak. As in they are taking up the memory but not releasing it back to the system, once the work is done. Inorder to find out which tag (driver) is leaking, we need to enable poolmon on the server. Here are the 2 articles for your reference: Event ID: 2019 The server was unable to allocate from the system nonpaged pool because the pool was empty http://www.techbug.com/en/?p=21 Resources for Troubleshooting Windows Event 2019: The server was unable to allocate from the system nonpaged pool because the pool was empty http://thebackroomtech.com/2007/11/20/resources-for-troubleshooting-windows-event-2019-the-server-was-unable-to-allocate-from-the-system-nonpaged-pool-because-the-pool-was-empty/ Regards Hetal

Hi, We have tried all the methods suggested but it seems that the hanging is happening more often. The exchange management console is installed together with the SSL cert and outlook anywhere on the server. Tried Hetal_P suggestion and only notice DNS is using the highest handler. Below are the screenshots of the error; Ariff

Now I would sugggest you to get in touch with Microsoft Support professional. Since its a hang issue and also we are sure that hang is happenign due to non paged pool memory leak. They will configure the machine for complete memory dump, also will setup poolmon and perfmon to find out the leaking tag. Which will not be possible to fine here in the blog. Good Luck !!

Hi Ariff, Do not ignore the Kernel-power event id 41 system error which very critical one. Second thing it is not recommended to run active directory and exchange server on the same server. I would like to suggest that you contact Microsoft Product Support Services via telephone so that a dedicated Support Professional can assist with this request. To obtain the phone numbers for specific technology request please take a look at the web site listed below. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;EN-US;PHONENUMBERS If you are outside the US please see http://support.microsoft.com for regional support phone numbers.
